At New York Comic Con on Thursday, Onipress announced a new horror limited series that will debut in January. Spirit of the Shadows is a five-part story co-written by Daniel Ziegler and Nick Canetti, with Canetti also providing art. The Big Two officially spoke out against the use of AI in comics at New York Comic Con. Dynamite Entertainment is set to bring the Christmas spirit all the way into the new year with Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Shiver of Christmas. Image Comics has announced that Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen will reunite for Crowbound, a dark ongoing fantasy series beginning in March 2026. Today at New York Comic Con, Dynamite Entertainment announced the next phase of the ThunderCats comics. In January, the publisher plans to release ThunderCats Lost in Time, a one-shot from Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, based on a book by Ed Brisson and Chris Campana. In 1989, author Rick Veitch wrote an issue of Swamp Thing in which the title character was present at the crucifixion of Jesus, but management at the time decided not to publish it. Mr. Veitch wrote the book and the project was never completed until now. At Thursday’s DC Vertigo panel at New York Comic Con, the publisher announced that the story will conclude with a four-issue series called Swamp Thing 1989.
