Imagine being a teenager who can summon the powers of Singapore’s ancient spirit guardians and transform you into a powerful hero, along with a talking feline companion who acts as your historian and guide. However, despite this ability, they have to juggle all the challenges of youth. Passing exams, making time to spend time with friends, and not bothering your parents.
That’s the reality Jaden Lee faces as he seeks to track down other spirit beasts and thwart the heinous activities of his serpent-powered nemesis.
Creator Kang Jing has created a brightly colored, fast-paced, and engaging comic with Lionborne. This second issue is perfect for jumping to the important points if you haven’t read the first issue, with flashbacks explaining details you weren’t told in the first issue. The emphasis on wealthy snake-possessed villain William Ashford is somewhat diminished, but his presence is definitely still felt, looming mostly in the background.
Singapore’s mythology and setting give The Lionborn a unique flavor, and it’s very interesting to see a superhero story come to life using these underrated elements. I recommend reading the first issue if you can (it’s also a lot of fun!), but you can’t go wrong if you just pick up the second issue.
Lionborne #2 is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter and has already reached its funding goal. You can pledge comics and various other add-ons here.
Thanks to Kang Jing for providing a digital copy of Lionborne #2 for review.
Hello! I’m Jason. I write articles for midlifegamergeek.com every day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human-generated content (that’s never been plagiarized or copied through the efforts of other writers), please help us keep this site running by making a donation.
Not only do I not earn any money from my writing here (although I do earn a small commission from affiliate links posted on my page, but as an Amazon Associate I do earn from qualifying purchases from these links), my work sometimes seems to be stolen and repurposed by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure, of course, but we really appreciate any support you can provide. You can easily support us through Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or the PayPal link.
Thank you very much for your donation. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to read my article. Please remember. This entire article is by Jason Brown and can be found at midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!
Please support me here!
All donations are gratefully received and will not only help me keep the lights on here, but will also help keep my writing dreams alive. However, please understand that there is no pressure. I hope you enjoy reading my article.
