Back in 2023, DC rebooted its ongoing title Wonder Woman with the creative team of writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere. The past two years have seen some big new developments for the Amazonian warrior, most notably the arrival of Wonder Woman’s daughter, Lize Prince, aka Trinity. The creative team also introduced some major new elements to Wonder Woman’s Rogues Gallery, including the Matriarch. Everything builds to the publisher’s promise that Wonder War will be the duo’s most ambitious story yet, starting with Wonder Woman #31 this March. The publisher describes the upcoming storyline as follows: Set 20 years…
If you thought you were looking forward to the super titles this March, just wait until you get a ton of March bat titles. The Batman continuation title, re-released by the creative team of writer Matt Fraction and artist Jorge Jimenez, has been a commercial and critical success. Thanks to Fraction, it’s no secret that writing Batman was a childhood dream of mine. It stands to reason that any creator trying to write a Caped Crusader would end up writing a story about a clown prince of crime. Sure enough, the Joker returns to Gotham in this March’s special oversized…
There’s been a lot of Superboy flying around the DCU these days, with the recent return of Superboy-Prime to the pages of Superman. From the old-school adventures of a young Clark Kent in action to the present-day existence of Conner Kent and Jon Kent, when you add Superboy-Prime to the mix, that number becomes an even number four. And as DC enters the second act of its All In initiative, if two are allies and three is crowd in the Superman titles, then four definitely reigns supreme. DC has announced Reign of the Superboys, a new storyline that will run…
Next year is sure to be a big year for the Green Lantern Corps. Lanterns, starring Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as Jon Stewart, is set to debut on HBO Max. An official release date has not yet been announced, but it will likely be in late 2026, after Supergirl hits theaters. Before that, DC Publishing will be celebrating the milestone 600th issue of its main Green Lantern title. The story takes place in 2023, when DC restarts a new Green Lantern series with the creative team of writer Jeremy Adams and artist Xermanico. Over the past…
Following the conclusion of the DC KO event, DC’s All In initiative enters its second act, with two of the publisher’s flagship titles undergoing creative refreshes. DC has announced that both The Flash and Titans will have new creative teams starting in March, and one of the series will also have a new name. The Flash will be helmed by writer Ryan North and artist Gavin Guidry, while the renamed New Titans will be created by the team of writer Tate Brombal and artist Sami Basri. We’re looking for information about North and Guidry’s first issue of The Flash. Flash…
shadow of the sea Cartoonist: Kathy MarkasianPublisher: FantagraphicsPublication date: November 2025 Kathy Markasian’s Shadows of the Sea tells an intimate story of grief and healing set in a fantastical world that follows its own logic but remains intriguingly strange. It turns out that Stanwyck, a small but good-looking terrier named “Landmine Detection Dog #336” in his company’s termination letter, lost his leg in an accident and was recently unemployed. While wandering a deserted mountain road, he witnesses a disturbing landscape. A ferocious, curly-haired woman defends herself from three thugs who run away in fear after being thoroughly beaten. Stanwyck approaches…
Cartoon Crossroads Columbus (CXC) is making some changes. We have a new festival manager, Aleesha Nash, and will be rescheduling the festival to spring. Nash was brought in as part of the nonprofit festival’s reorganization and will be responsible for administrative activities including marketing, fundraising, grant management and community support, as well as working with CXC’s board, committees, volunteers, vendors and special guests. As part of his mission, Nash will oversee the festival’s transition from its traditional fall dates to spring dates, with the next event scheduled for April 15-18, 2027. My two cents: Spring is also a very busy…

British horror magazine Scream! is easy to explain. Another in the EC horror-inspired anthology series. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is as lazy and short-sighted an observation as claiming that Hammer Films were simply British versions of Hollywood’s Universal Monsters movies. Similar to its work in the film world, Scream! EC focused on some of the same classic horrors, but added its own flavor to create a separate identity. They were characterized by their national politics, satirical traditions, and definitions of fear. Scream! was published weekly and ran from March to June 1984, featuring both ongoing and…
