“This is the best of David Finch’s already stunning career,” says Sean Mackiewicz, SVP of Skybound’s publisher. “Robert Kirkman and David have created a savage new world filled with incredibly amazing and creatures that they have to watch. The absolute comic book legend that works at the top of their game can create a skinbreaker.”

“I’ll give you two quotes,” Kirkman is no longer popular again. “David Finch is one of the greatest comic artists ever. This is the artist who created Moon Night Out Sel Batman. Even a chance look at his work in Skinbreaker would prove that this is historic material.

Los Angeles 06/17/2025 – Today’s Skybound and Image Comics has announced a whole new comic book series skinbreaker from the creative dream team of writers Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead), artist David Finn (Batman, The New Avengers), colorist Analisa Leoni (Invincible First Class), Battle Beaston), Letter Ruth Wheaton (Mashaman), and artist David Finn (Walking Dead). Unlike what you’ve seen so far, the best thing for fans of visionary action, a grand, record-breaking, invincible universe: Battle Beasts will arrive at the Comic Book Shop from September 24th, 2025.

Skinbreakers tell the story of people on the crisis of collapse and the battle for their survival as the many threats they face for the murder.

“I wanted to work with David Finch throughout my entire career,” Robert Kirkman said. “We’ve come close many times over the years, but we wanted our collaboration to be truly special. Skinbreaker is that series. We feel that this book is a high water mark for both our careers.

“Skinbreaker is a labor of love. It’s a story that resonated so deeply for me, and it was the privilege of my career to help make it happen,” David Finch said. “Everyone involved has put all their final efforts into this book, but I couldn’t be proud to share it with you in the end.”

Enor has led his tribes for many seasons, but his days as Chieftan are coming to an end. He wields a mighty skinbreaker, but at his age he can barely lift it. Will Anok, the passive heir of ENOR, take over before their world is ruined? As the bloody power struggle begins, an even greater threat lurks in the darkness beyond their villages.

In addition to David Finch’s main cover, the Skin Breaker #1 cover lineup includes open-open portrait variant covers and incentive variant covers with incentive variant covers by Superstar artists Ryan Ottley, Lorenzo de Felici, Eric Cane and Tony Moore. Additionally, the program includes a 1:1000 incentive CGC signature/staged foil version of Finch’s main cover, signed by both Finch and Kirkman, a die-cut foil mask cover, and a very special 1:2500 Finch original art sketch cover.

And to capture the unparalleled grandeur of David Finch’s Art, Skin Breaker #1 Treasury Edition launches a series-long 10″ x 14″ presentation of the series. Experience all the action, bone-spiking battles, and shocking twists in this memorial oversized form.
