There’s a really funny and original conceit at the heart of the alien comic Kingkiller. Genetically modified humans on a remote planet must protect their people from the ever-present threat of the Xenomorphs and fight their own ferocious creatures.
It’s also pretty interesting, but sometimes it feels a little too decompressed, spending too much page space on the action while there’s still a lot of background that hasn’t been covered. There are also some strange art choices, with some panels containing really weird and inappropriate facial expressions.
It definitely scores points with me for not being the usual Weyland Yutani/Colonial Marines-style Alien retelling, but it hardly feels like an Alien comic at this point given the token single Xenomorph that appears here apart from the main plot.
Hello! I’m Jason. I write articles for midlifegamergeek.com every day. Not only do I not earn any money from my writing here (though I do earn a small commission from affiliate links posted on my page, but as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), my work sometimes seems to be stolen and repurposed by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure, of course, but we really appreciate any support you can provide. You can easily support us through Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or the PayPal link.
Thank you very much for your donation. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to read my article. Please remember. This entire article is by Jason Brown and can be found at midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!
