Well, let’s see who’s back! Well, we’re back with the latest issue of Harley Quinn x Elvira, the most bra-busting crossover in comics history!
As you can probably tell from its line art cover variant, Harley and Elvira are featured in (insert Tim Curry GIF here) Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace. When he accepts an invitation to a wedding from an intergalactic alien who resembles a Zados-era Sean Connery, chaos quickly ensues. Because no matter where these two women go, trouble seems to follow.
I’m really enjoying this silly series. It’s gloriously campy, cranked up to 11, with all sorts of pop culture references thrown in at a relentless pace. There’s the aforementioned Zardoz, of course, but Star Wars and many other things are referenced here. It’s so much fun.
The art is great, but the fact that Amanda Conner’s two pages (and she also drew the cover) is the visual highlight feels a little disappointing. There’s nothing particularly wrong with Juan Sam’s art and it fits the material perfectly. In my opinion, it’s terrible when compared to Connor’s work.
Anyway, this series turned out to be very interesting and I’m looking forward to picking up issue 6 when it’s released.
