When Leo and Sui first met as small children, their parents said they were getting married. But as they got older, they barely became friends. On one fateful day, Leo’s parents are killed while on a trip, and Sui’s parents formally recruit him into the family. This is what Leo and Sui’s relationship changes forever and as they grow closer…

Soon they cannot deny their charm, and as adults, the two live together and indulge freely in their sexual desires. Will they calm down and get married, as their parents had predicted?

Soon, this cartoon surprised me how steamy it was. The first chapter is the (uncensored) sex scene between Leo and SUI. Men are attractive, their bodies are like statues of muscular Greek athletes, except for certain parts of anatomy that is larger than life (Ahem, Leo). This is all an appetizing experience for readers, but what can tear it apart is Sui’s preference, especially to call Leo a “brother” during sex. (I had to tell myself that Sui had called Leo Anniki and told him to feel a bit indifferent towards it). It’s not my tea (but not yaks to your Yum if it’s yours), so I focused on the chemistry of the characters and the intense desire for each other, wondering where they would take their relationship.

As the initial introduction of the characters is about all physical relationships, readers cannot understand who these two men are until the full backstory begins in Chapter 3, or when Leo and Sui first meet.

Scattered between all of this is more sex scenes. Lots, lots.

I admit I wanted a bit more plot to this. The tragedy of Leo losing his parents and becoming part of Sui’s family is persuasive material, and seeing the nature of Leo and Sui’s relationship promotes the story, but I have not gotten a clear sense of why Sui is reluctant to become an adult with Leo. There is a strange scene at dinner with Sui’s parents, where a marriage is raised and Leo is on board, but Sui brushes it off. I’m not sure if I read this manga too soon, but I missed something here.

Why do you he? The two live together, have intense physical compatibility and amazing relationships, and seem perfect for each other. Their parents approve of their relationship and encourage it. I don’t know (or at least I can’t remember) why Sui can’t make a clear decision about this.

Also, I had no real sense of the taboo nature of adoptive siblings who sleep together and have romantic relationships, except for the back cover issue, which explains Leo and Sui live in “the sin of bliss.”

Despite these small complaints I have, the solution between Leo and SUI on the marriage issue occurs quickly, and the story moves to the final chapter at an active pace. The wedding will definitely happen as the cartoon is called my adorable fiancée, and I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say that they’re walking down the aisle together.

This cartoon feels like a snapshot of romantic life. Pacing is fast and the sex scenes dominate. Leo and Sui love each other and are very compatible, but the buildup of their wedding day feels a little sudden. Nevertheless, you can clearly see how they worship each other, and their marriage ensures that they live a blissful life together.

If you want an interesting but spicy Bl manga, if it’s not too funny and heavy, I’ll take a closer look at this manga. Sometimes you need a little steamy romance and a light rampage to make your day. I hope my adorable engagement is one of these stories for you.

My adorable engagement is a BL one-shot that will be released on July 17th from Tokyopop. Available directly from their stores and from various retailers in paperback and digital.
