Prior to their release, IDW revealed a number of new covers. Some of them have never been seen in upcoming titles such as Godzilla (on sale July 23rd), Star Trek: Redshirt (on sale July 16th), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #9 (next week).

Godzilla, as I said in my review, is, “A great first issue, as I said, an exciting new era of Kaiju storytelling with powerful visuals, a fascinating twist on Godzilla mythology, a fresh international cast.

Godzilla #1

This is where the Kai-sei era, IDW’s new Godzilla universe, begins!

In 1954 he experimented with a mysterious source of energy known as Kaisei, awakening Godzilla and many immortal Kaiju. Over the next few years, humanity was hit by almost constant monster attacks. Japan has begun to treat Kaiju like a natural disaster, but the American G-Force will fight, fight and fight while they understand that attempts to fight Godzilla will only exacerbate the threat.

The Americans have just discovered the ultimate tool in their battle with Kaiju. He is a young boy named Jasen, who has Godzilla powers. The mysterious Kaisei can be made available in the same vein as the Monster King, and this boy will either save the world or bring its fate.

Join Tim Seeley (Grayson, Hack/Slash, local guy) and Nicola Chijimesiah (Azrael, Batman, Robin’s sword)!

Then in Star Trek: Redshirt #1, “it’s a clever, dark and humorous concept, elevating it with grounded, expressive visuals and surprisingly thoughtful scripts.”

Star Trek: Red Shirt #1

A completely new and heart-winning miniseries of Star Trek five islands by author Christopher Cantwell (Star Trek: Rebel) and artist Megan Lebens (Star Trek). Starfleet’s bravest and fateful crew: Red Shirt Now, in the end, they get their own story.

Leading by experienced officers embedded in snowy planet Arconia 89, USS Warren crews have small windows that hold spies stealing classified secrets and trying to protect Starfleet data from malicious hands.

They face threats not only from faceless enemies, but also from the brutal elements and wildlife of planets far from their homes. The sanctity of the red shirt life and the Starfleet is in the line…and no one is safe.

But wait, there’s more!

Godzilla: lets dead zone #1 escape

What’s going on in the dead zone? ! Check out IDW’s new connected Godzilla universe, the second book from the Kai-Sei era!

Within the new IDW Godzilla Universe there is a bigger mystery than any other… What is a dead zone? This New World inhabitant knows that the Dead Zone is a walled section of the Pacific Northwest. The government will make the citizens believe that nothing is alive in the dead zone yet…but do you believe it?

There’s a story about a man. Rather…half-kaiju, half-person… travel freely through the dead zone. Some say he can even kill Kaiju. People who say that… he’s not just his kind.

Godzilla’s Journey to this Mystical New World: Eisner nominated Written Duo Griffin Sheridan and Ethan S. Parker (Kil Your Darling) and fan favorite artists, Pablo Tunica (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Heir to Seasepent).
