We have announced Maxwell Prince, Martín Morazzo, Chris O’Halloran and the Mortal Coil Shuffle: The Mortal Coil Shuffle, a new addition to the Letterer Good Ald Neon’s Horror series. This fall, the card game may be printed only once. There is no second printing, no new runs, and no collection in any kind of trade. It exists.
Ice Cream Man: Mortar Coil Shuffle is a beautiful, custom designed deck of cards (also features a custom bag and custom box!). All the art is as usual with ice cream man stalwarts Morazzo, Chris O’Halloran and good old neon. Some cards tell part of the story. Other cards cast mysterious spells on unconscious characters. Started by the Creators in 2018, Ice Cream Man revolves around a mysterious title character (named Rick) ranging from dark comedy to scary. Mortal Coil Shuffle marks the first spinoff that the comic will make, following the TV show under development on the infamous short-lived streaming service Kibi and the film version signed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar late last year. Morazzo commented: “I can always say I’m extremely pleased with the ice cream guy because I love storytelling challenges. I have over 44 issues now.
Prince describes the project as a homage to his neighbor who taught him to play the card game Jin Rammy as a child. He said, “When I was nine, I signed up for Chicken Pox. And the only person I could see during my illness was my German neighbor. Her extra cool cigarettes.
Mortal Coil Shuffle will be released on October 1st and you can check out the card mockups (including back designs) and boxes for sale below. In the meantime, issue 44 of the comic (running irregularly) will arrive next week on July 23rd, with #45-47 being asked to run monthly from September 10th to November 5th.
