Image Comics has announced that its East of West comic series, which has sold over 1.5 million copies, will be published in February 2025 as a major paperback compilation. The compilation will feature issues #1 through #45, with a new cover by series artist Nick Dragotta. You can pre-order wherever books are sold.

“From the first time I worked with Nick, I knew we were creatively simpatico, but as East of West unfolded, I realized just how magical the book turned out to be. , I think we were both surprised and delighted,” Hickman said. “The bones of this story are pure nostalgia, but its themes are timeless and its worldview visionary and more realistic than ever. We’ve both done quite a bit of work. But this might be our best.”

So what is “East of West”?

East of West is a dystopian, speculative historical tale, similar in approach to Philip K. Dick’s The Man in the High Castle, but set in an alternate time where the Civil War never ended. I imagine a future America in 2064 that follows the line. In it, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse roam the earth, heralding the end of humanity and that the greatest hope for life lies in death.
