Last year, Dannyland (Classic Iron Fist) appears to have left this fatal coil on the page for the Iron Fist 50th Anniversary Special. But as teased at the end, there was more to this story than it looks. Sure enough, today Marvel has released details of Iron Fist, No. 4, which arrived in September this year, from author Jason Lou (Walwolf by Night: Red Band) and artist Fran Garan (Carnage).

Here’s how publishers explain the miniseries

For centuries, the iron fist mantle has given selected warriors the mastery of martial arts, divine connections, ancient wisdom and lies! Following the shocking event of last year’s Iron Fist 50th Anniversary Special #1, Dannyland’s tragic death reveals K’un-Lun’s darkest secrets and sends him and his readers on a journey that enlightens Iron Fist’s biggest legend!

The iron fist rises!

The book of Iron Fist declares that all Iron Fist will die by the age of 33, but who produced this false prophecy? Danny Rand was killed…but can you really kill the Immortal Iron Fist? Danny Rand rises again and learns the truth about the legacy of the Iron Fist, in order to erase those who threaten Danny’s legacy before he runs out.

Here’s what writer Jason Lou had to say about the miniseries:

“When I killed Danny Rand, I was very relieved that I wouldn’t encounter any backlash or anger from the fans. I always had a plan to bring him back, but I wanted to keep the fans waiting,” Lou explained. “Not only was I busy plotting his next explosive chapter, but Danny has returned to the land of 616 living through his own journey. And from the first issue, he shakes with ruthless vengeance.

Fans may remember that a few years ago, Danny Rand lost the mantle and power of his sword fist. Despite appearing in other media, Smash Hit Marvel rival games Lynn Lee and Iron Fist have made sporadic appearances at best in the major Marvel universes.

The first issue of Undead Iron Fist will be available on September 10, 2025, with a main cover with a Whilce Portacio cover, along with a variant cover by Philip Tan.
