‘Bad Ideas’ ‘ORDAINED’ to be made into a movie by Avengers and John Wick filmmakers

Colin Farrell will star in “Ordained,” a new film from “John Wick” screenwriter Derek Kolstad and “Avengers: Endgame” producers Joe and Anthony Russo. According to The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news, Kolstad will be credited as a producer along with Bad Idea’s Dinesh Shamdasani and Benjamin Simpson.

Other producers include AGBO’s Angela Russo-Otstott and Michael Disco, and Colin Farrell and Claudine Farrell via Chapel Place’s Production Single.

Written by Robert Venditti, “Ordained” is scheduled to hit comic shops on December 10th with art by Trevor Haresign and colorist Dave Stewart. Bad Idea is a star-studded comic book publisher that initially launched with a scarcity express business model, releasing in only about 150 stores. It’s gotten at least somewhat more available since then, but sales numbers haven’t even reached the level of Batman or Youngblood.

Venditti is no stranger to Hollywood, with his creator-owned series The Surrogates being made into a movie in 2009 starring Bruce Willis. He previously worked with Shamdasani when Shamdasani was head of Valeant Entertainment, where Venditti wrote XO Manowar , putting together a slate that lasted about twice as long as Valeant’s other titles from the ’90s onwards. He then went on to work on titles such as The Flash and Green Lantern at DC.

Farrell just received an Emmy nomination for his role in the HBO Max series “The Penguin,” which is an offshoot of Matt Reeves’ “The Batman.” The star has expressed skepticism about putting makeup back on to play the role again, but hasn’t ruled out the possibility yet. Season 2 of his Apple TV series Sugar is coming soon.

Meanwhile, the Russos have been lured back to Marvel, along with Robert Downey Jr., and are currently in post-production on next year’s Avengers: Doomsday. In addition to their work with Marvel Studios, the Russo brothers executive produced Syfy’s critically acclaimed TV adaptation of Rick Remender and Wes Craig’s Deadly Class.

“Farrell stars as Father Roy Craig, a priest who performs the last rites on a mob boss who miraculously survives, but soon Father Roy finds himself targeted by hitmen, corrupt cops, and gangsters, all of whom have silenced him. However, Father Roy has a secret violent past that makes him a more dangerous target (Luckily for the enemy, he follows Thou Shall Not Kill).
