Image credit: Dynamite Entertainment In the second issue of Dynamite’s original Pathfinder series, a group of heroes grows to deal with the increasingly dangerous threat of a mutated goblin army. Who or what is behind the threat? We’ll have more clues soon, but first we need to dispatch the goblins. When I started writing this problem, I was sure there was a printing error. It feels almost identical to the opening sequence of issue #1. The biggest clue that this wasn’t what actually happened was a new cast member we met in the last issue but never saw in action.…

A look at Image Comics’ self-reported top 10 comics and books for the past month shows that the company has a lot going on right now. While the top two publishers in the U.S. comics market essentially only have superhero books as their main “hits,” Image, the third largest comics publisher in the market, has a much wider range of major brands, licenses, and new material. Robert Kirkman and David Finch’s new series “Skinbreaker” topped the single-issue sales chart, with “Skybound” accounting for about half of the top 10 overall. The Energon Universe is well known for having Transformers, G.I.…

While the publisher has faced its fair share of difficulties over the years (e.g., shuttering most of its North American operations in the mid-aughts), in its current iteration, TOKYOPOP has undertaken a thoughtful transformation—strengthening its editorial direction, expanding its carefully-curated catalog of diverse titles, and reaffirming its commitment to inclusive storytelling—that’s been…

Image credit: IDW After learning that Starfleet was spying on the Klingons, Miller and Lard were captured by the Klingons. You’d think Klingon torture would be the biggest problem, but the Romulans have the data disks that the Red Shirts were sent to retrieve. As the rest of the team heads out to retrieve the disc, will Miller and Lard be able to escape and complete their mission? Probably one of my favorite comics of the year, Star Trek: Red Shirt continues to be a really great read. It leans heavily on the throwaway redshirt trope, but it does it…
