A1 Deadline Special’s Kickstarter has announced that four of the comics featured in the project will be replaced following a legal challenge from Tales From the Quarantine publisher Frazier Brown. The four comics in question were originally created during TFTQ’s Kickstarter in 2020, but were left unpublished along with the rest of the book. Editor and publisher Dave Elliott says, “The creators claim that they retain full copyright in the works they contribute. That belief is disputed by TFTQ’s publisher. Image credit: IDW After learning that Starfleet was spying on the Klingons, Miller and Lard were captured by the Klingons. You’d think Klingon torture would be the biggest problem, but the Romulans have the data disks that the Red Shirts were sent to retrieve. As the rest of the team heads out to retrieve the disc, will Miller and Lard be able to escape and complete their mission? Probably one of my favorite comics of the year, Star Trek: Red Shirt continues to be a really great read. It leans heavily on the throwaway redshirt trope, but it does it…
A comic book holy grail discovered by three brothers who were sorting through their late mother’s belongings in their family’s Northern California home. Last holiday season, the family unearthed a treasure trove. Her mother had kept her vintage comic books for decades “hidden in the attic under layers of flimsy, faded newspaper and cobwebs.” “They were in their 50s and 60s, and their mother always told them she had an expensive comic book collection, but she never showed them,” said Ron Allen, vice president of Heritage Auctions. He added with a smile, “This is a twist on the old…

For me, horror comics are something I work on all year round. Still, this year’s Halloween was special as The Beat had the chance to speak with independent creator Jonathan Chance about his spooky anthology Never by Night. Two volumes have been released, and a third volume is currently in print. Each volume contains unforgettable stories that will leave you wanting to read the next one.
