IDW Publishing has announced that Event Horizon: Inferno, the sequel to the 1997 sci-fi horror film, will be released this April. Christian Ward, who wrote the new prequel comic Dark Descent, returns, and artist Rob Carey (Alien: Resistance, The Outsiders) continues. The sequel is set 200 years in the future and follows a billionaire trying to retrieve the title spaceship’s interdimensional technology. Earlier this year, Skybound reunited Invncible co-creator/writer Robert Kirkman and contributing creator/artist Ryan Ottley to launch the new Battle Beast series. This is the first comic series set in the Invincible universe since the original book ended. Given the immense popularity of the Invincible animated series, it was no surprise that the comic spotlighted fan-favorite characters. After issue 6 was released last October, the series has been on hiatus to give the creators time to work on the second chapter. As the saying goes, good things come to those who wait, because Skybound has announced that Invincible Universe: Battle Beast…
Dynamite Entertainment, the comic book publisher behind hits like “The Boys,” just announced plans to help develop a tabletop role-playing game based on the beloved 80s animated series “Thundercats” (and now Dynamite Comics). The game launched today on Kickstarter and has already raised around $12,000. Dynamite announced in a press release that Lynvander Studios designed and wrote the campaign and setting book for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. Lynnvander assembled TTG luminaries such as Tommy Gofton, Devin Wilson, Bryan CP Steele, Josh Derksen, and Adam Petkovic for the project, which follows previous collaborations with Dynamite including the recent Reanimator game.…
In October, DC and Marvel announced a new Superman/Spider-Man crossover to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Superman and Spider-Man’s first meeting. Today, DC announced details of the creators involved in Superman/Spider-Man #1, which ships in March, and the pairings that will appear in the one-shot backup story. The new Superman/Spider-Man #1 will retail for $7.99 and feature featured features by Mark Waid and Jorge Jimenez. When journalists Clark Kent and Peter Parker find themselves following the same story, the conspiracy they uncover could change the world – especially if Brainiac and Doctor Octopus have something to say about it. (And…
In December 10th’s “Top Comics to Buy This Week,” two of my favorite cartoonists in comics right now bring their idiosyncratic styles to single-issue comics. Two of them are Jesse Lonergan, who appears in the new issue of the Hellboy universe, and Stipan Morian, who appears in the new original series of Mad Cave. That alone would make for a good week, but it also got off to a very strong start with a new twist for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and a development for Ultimate Spider-Man that is determined to deliver a shocking finale. In short, I read a…

Just over the weekend after Netflix announced it would acquire Warner Bros. for a total of approximately $72 billion, Paramount Skydance has steadfastly presented its shareholders with a much larger all-cash offer valued at $108.4 billion. The deal will be “backstopped” by the Ellison family and Redbird Capital, in addition to debt “fully assumed” by Bank of America, Citi and Apollo. Paramount Chairman and CEO David Ellison asserted, “We believe our proposal will create a stronger Hollywood, which is in the best interest of the creative community, consumers and the movie theater industry. We believe they will benefit from increased…
Brazilian site Jamesons published excerpts from an interview with Miles Morales co-creator Sara Pichelli during CCXP 2025 (originally called Comic-Con Experience), in which the illustrator confessed that he did not receive royalties from Miles’ appearance in Insomniac Games’ latest Spider-Man video game. This has reignited debate in the comics industry about royalties, ownership, and employment contracts. Sara Picelli Read translated excerpts of Jameson’s Gabe de Gabeverso and Picelli’s interview below. Gabe de Gabeverso: Video games, too. And for all the other products that were inspired by and launched with Miles…do you get a cut of that money? Sara Picelli: If…
A few years ago, shortly after breaking the record for longest running indie comics, Todd McFarlane decided it was time to expand the Spawn universe once again, announcing a number of new ongoing series set in the shared world. For more than four years, they have explored new corners of the mythos, representing one of the best shared worlds outside of the two great powers. Not only do they exist, but they’re also really good. Focusing on The Scorched and King Spawn, there were also Monolith, Bloodletter, Rat City, two Gunslinger Spawn books, a new Sam & Twitch series, and…
While we’re all wondering what the new Hollywood landscape will look like if Warner Bros.’s sale to Netflix goes through, DC Comics has recently made other moves, both personnel and theoretical. On the human resources side, DC Comics has a significant number of openings in key positions, including manager of book market sales. Sounds like an exciting opportunity! This position will be responsible for driving revenue and readership growth for DC Comics across bookstores, mass-market accounts, libraries, and education channels. This role is also responsible for executing sales planning and go-to-market strategies for retail accounts worldwide, supporting DC’s priorities of…
