8BitDo’s new $26 solderless mod kit turns your old GameCube controller into a wireless Bluetooth device for use with the Nintendo Switch and Android. It also works with the original GameCube, but you’ll need to buy the $26 Retro receiver to do so. The mod kit comes with a Hall effect joystick, trigger pack, and a rechargeable 300mAh battery that 8BitDo claims will provide around six hours of playtime. You can preorder the kit now, with shipping starting September 25th.

Introducing the 8BitDo Mod Kit for the Original NGC Controller. Easily mod your original wired NGC controller into a Bluetooth controller for wireless compatibility with Switch and Android. Includes Hall effect joystick and trigger pack.

While there are a number of adapters on the market that allow you to use original wired GameCube controllers with the Switch, such as 8BitDo’s own GBros. adapter or the official Nintendo adapter, this mod kit cuts out the middleman for a completely wireless Bluetooth connection. All you need to do is open up your controller and replace the old PCB with a new one.
