It looks like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has leaked online just two weeks before the game’s release date. According to Nintendo Life, several new images and clips of the Nintendo Switch title have been circulating online.
YouTubers Nintendo Prime and Zelda Lore have issued warnings that the ROM files for the game are already available and that some people are playing it on emulators. FYI, several popular sites for pirated Switch games have not yet provided download links for the Echoes of Wisdom ROM, but it may take some time for the leaked file to spread across those sites.
Unfortunately, this isn’t unusual: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was leaked ahead of its release last year, with boss fight and other spoiler-filled footage emerging at a similar time, roughly two weeks before the release date.
How this latest leak came about is that Echoes of Wisdom is due to be released on September 26th, right around the time that Nintendo will be handing out review copies. So it’s possible that someone with early access copied the game and shared it online. Either way, it’s worth paying attention and muting some keywords on any social media platforms you frequently use if you don’t want to spoil the surprise for the game.
It would be a real shame for fans to be inadvertently spoiled for Echoes of Wisdom, as this will be the first time that Zelda herself will be a main playable character in the series that bears her name, and a leak could lead Nintendo to be more selective about offering review copies of the game.
