This issue marks the climax of the second story in the Skybound Transformers series, and it also marks the one-year anniversary of the rebooted series.

It’s all-out, all-out action as Optimus Prime and the Autobots attempt to rescue their captured comrades, sever the connection between Cybertron and Earth, and return the machine planet to its rightful place in the universe. But things are no longer as clear-cut as good and evil, right and wrong, as Optimus Prime finds out.

This is another great chapter in the ongoing saga, and one that will really change how we view the characters going forward: some very difficult decisions will have to be made, and there may not be one or more Autobots that make it out of this story unscathed.

While the writing remains on point (Daniel Warren Johnson is as reliable as ever, delivering some great moments here), the art is a bit confusing at times and some panels feel a bit too busy, which is a shame because Jorge Corona’s art is great at telling the story no matter what happens, and here it’s lacking in some panels.

That aside, this is a hugely successful Transformers reboot, going back to basics while still providing plenty of shocks and surprises for long-time Transformers fans.
