In TIMESLIDE #1, Cable and Bishop see the future

It looks like Marvel will be wrapping up the year with another preview one-shot for TIMESLIDE #1. Written by Steve Fox and drawn by Ivan Fiorelli, next year’s installment will take place in Marvel’s future in 2025, with updates gradually rolling out towards the end of the year. It’s all told through the mission of Cable and Bishop trying to stop a monster from eating the X-Gene, essentially stopping mutantkind from existing.

“I was excited when Tom Brevoort contacted me about Timeslide,” said Fox. “This annual epic is a perennial favorite of mine both as a standalone story and as a preview of what’s to come in the year ahead. Being able to center it around two of my favorite mutants, Cable and Bishop, is like icing on the chrono cake, two characters I hadn’t written much about in my previous tenure at X.”

“Ivan Fiorelli can really write anything, and this story proves it, cycling through some of the X-Men’s most notable moments from each era as a new threat emerges, threatening the entirety of mutant history. Building on Cable and Bishop’s tumultuous relationship from Children of the Vault, he’s crafted an exciting story that touches on some of my favorite parts of X-Men past stories and hints at exciting mutant stories to come. While the flash-forwards in this issue aren’t just X-related, as a die-hard X-Men fan, it was a thrill to write the first Timeless in a TIMESLIDE!”

For the past few years, Marvel Comics has ended the year with a bang, packing epic storylines with special one-shots that offer glimpses into the coming year’s stories, and this great Marvel tradition continues with December’s TIMESLIDE #1.

Written by Steve Fox (Dark X-Men, Spider-Woman) and drawn by Ivan Fiorelli (Fantastic Four), TIMESLIDE stars X-Men’s time-traveling warriors Bishop and Cable as they race through the timestream to stop a villain from wiping mutantkind from history. During their high-stakes mission, they’ll witness upcoming events, new characters and more for your favorite Marvel heroes.

What is the fate of the Marvel Universe?

The X-Men from the future arrive in the present day with a dire warning: one of mutantkind’s most hyper-advanced foes is consuming time to stop the evolution of the X-Gene. Only two X-Men can thwart this time-eater’s goal – if they can work together long enough. Join Bishop and Cable on a journey through the past, present and future.
