It’s time for the latest issue of Quantum! Issue 9 of the bi-monthly British sci-fi anthology features the fantastic WesterNoir on the cover. This issue concludes the current WesterNoir storyline.

Issue #9 sees the belated return of Memphis, an alternative reality Egyptian political thriller that delves even deeper into mythological elements.

The aforementioned ‘Westernoire’ comes to a bloody and thrilling conclusion, while ‘The Strange Return of Peter Thomson’ takes an unusually animal-focused turn and has some genuinely thought-provoking moments.

The Clockwork Cavalier begins his new adventure here in all his clockpunk glory (yes, clockpunk actually exists!).

Now, speaking of Quantum, something is not quite right, which is unusual for me. This has been going on since the last issue and is hitting a bit of a nadir here, but the normally bombastic Major Rakhana is currently struggling a bit with its tone, although it is certainly not without its dark moments. The issue is the brutal torture scene, which really clashes with the beautifully colorful, yet bombastic violence of the rest of the story. It feels like it’s getting a bit too dark for my liking, but I’ll reserve overall judgement until the story is fully concluded.

Still, that complaint aside, this is another very good issue of Quantum, with some bonus humor strips sprinkled throughout.

I buy Quantum every other month from physical newsagents, but if you can’t get it yourself you can get it by becoming a subscriber via the Quantum Patreon. There are several donation levels, one which provides just the comic itself, and another which offers additional, sometimes exclusive perks. As you’ll probably have seen from my reviews, this is something I highly recommend buying on a regular basis.

Did you enjoy reading it? Would you consider supporting my blog? It’s not mandatory of course, but every penny helps keep this site running, as I don’t earn any income from writing here (though I may earn a small commission from affiliate links featured on my pages).

However, we really do appreciate any support you can give, and you can support us easily through either of these links: Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or PayPal.

Any donation would be truly appreciated and I also appreciate your time to read my article, it really is much appreciated!

All donations are gratefully received and help keep this site running and my writing dreams alive, but please know I don’t mean to pressure you into giving me anything. I hope you enjoy reading my articles.
