IDW Publishing is pleased to announce LORE WAR, a compelling crossover event that has been planned since the STAR TREK comics series relaunched with the landmark Eisner Award-nominated issue, STAR TREK #400, two years ago.
Kicking off with STAR TREK: LORE WAR #1 from acclaimed creators Colin Kelly, Jackson Lansing, Christopher Cantwell and Davide Tinto, the crossover event will include STAR TREK’s flagship serialized series, STAR TREK: DEFIANT, as well as a special one-off tie-in issue. “This is it – the moment we’ve been preparing for since Theseus left spacedock and the Defiant was stolen,” said Lansing. “It’s the ultimate STAR TREK comics crossover event, where heroes and villains from across the galaxy must unite to defend their very existence.”
“Since the series’ inception, the epic storylines of both titles have dealt with STAR TREK’s concept of a godlike being and the rejection of that godlike being – order and entropy that exists across the four quadrants of the galaxy,” Cantwell added. “Who pulls the strings and who is brave enough to cut them? LORE WAR is really the culmination of that common theme and has been two years in the making.”
“The gods are dead and only one crazed android holds control of the universe. With absolute power comes absolute corruption… but does absolute control also come with it?,” said Kelly. “Featuring stunning art from newcomer to the Star Trek universe, David Tinto, we refuse to settle for anything less than the most dramatic, world-ending Star Trek event possible to put into comics.”
Group Editor Heather Antos is excited that fans can finally see what they’ve been planning since the beginning of the relaunch: “Everything has been building up to this moment — literally. From that first prologue in STAR TREK #400 two years ago, the roadmap has always led to Lore War. STAR TREK: LORE WAR #1 will hit shelves on March 26, 2025, and the crossover features a main cover by artist Malachi Ward. Fans can pre-order it at their local comic shop. STAR TREK #500, which contains the prequel story, is on sale now.
