Fans of dystopian and post-apocalyptic stories will want to pick up Greetings from the Maglev!, a three-volume graphic novel saga written by Mark Espinosa and illustrated by Adam Cahoon, set in a dystopian vision of a new America.
Invader Comics Publisher Mike Perkins said “Greetings from the Maghreb!” “adds to people’s never-ending fascination with railroad stories, which provide a rich, uniquely American setting for a wide variety of stories.” The Invader Comics team added, “We were blown away by the world Adam (Cahun) and Mark (Espinosa) have created. Caahun’s unique art style brings it to life in a way unlike any other book. We’re committed to bringing you fresh concepts and voices as we continue to make inroads in the hearts and bookshelves of our readers.”
Volume 1 of “Greetings from Linear!” debuted last year, and you can check out select preview pages from Volume 1 below.
Invader Comics also shared a preview of Volume 2 with Beat.
Greetings from the Maghreb is a dystopian tale that’s a mix of Mad Max and Snowpiercer, where superhighways run the country, but at a cost. In the absence of gas, the country’s corporations band together to build the Maghreb, a solar-powered superhighway with magnetic railways. But only the rich can use it, or those who have stolen the right to ride it.
Please see below for the synopsis.
Chris Miles is a member of the Highwaymen, a private police force that patrols and guards the maglev trains, and this was supposed to be her last mission. All she had to do was take care of the son of maglev founder Victor Hines on a “humanitarian” mission across the legendary road. Everything seemed to be going smoothly until Miles’ refusal to play by the rules led to her being locked up for a crime she didn’t commit. Now she must find a way to escape one of the world’s most advanced super-prisons and once again travel across the country aboard the dangerous maglev trains she swore to protect. Luckily for her, revenge is a powerful motivator.
Volume 2 was launched on Kickstarter on September 2nd. Those who wish to show their support can do so on Kickstarter.
