After the events recorded in Bram Stoker’s famous book Dracula, the Count returns to the land of the living and attempts to atone for the horrors he committed in his previous life. We join Dracula with the Allied forces in World War II, on a mission to stop a train full of Nazis from reaching its destination. But some of the passengers, along with the test subjects, may complicate things a bit for Dracula…

From the opening panel, this is a truly wild ride. Kenny Porter writes Operation: The Iron Coffin like a relentlessly paced, bloody action movie in which Dracula takes down Nazis like a John Wick with supernatural powers.

Tyrell Cannon’s stylized artwork fits the material perfectly. There’s blood and guts everywhere, and Dracula himself exudes a cool ’70s style aura with his long mustache, long hair, shoulder pads, and ruffled shirt. It’s like a Hammer horror movie with the budget and subject matter of a modern action movie.

There’s a brief pause in that lightning-fast Nazi-killing while the vampire makes his way through the train to explain Dracula’s backstory, but this gives us some very important details that help us understand why Dracula had such a dramatic and effective face change.

And as the vampire protagonist makes it through the first stages and groans of the train, the challenges increase, culminating in a boss fight and a big plot twist before this issue’s credits roll. It’s really amazing.

And a comic that opens with Dracula being dropped from a plane in a coffin onto a moving Nazi horror train has to be seen to be believed, right? Seriously, read Operation: Iron Coffin #1 now. You can thank me later.

Hello! I’m Jason. I write articles for midlifegamergeek.com every day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human-generated content (that’s never been plagiarized or copied through the efforts of other writers), please help us keep this site running by making a donation.

Not only do I not earn any money from my writing here (although I do earn a small commission from affiliate links posted on my page, but as an Amazon Associate I do earn from qualifying purchases from these links), my work sometimes seems to be stolen and repurposed by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.

There’s no pressure, of course, but we really appreciate any support you can provide. You can easily support us through Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or the PayPal link.

Thank you very much for your donation. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to read my article. Please remember. This entire article is by Jason Brown and can be found at midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!

Please support me here!

All donations are gratefully received and will not only help me keep the lights on here, but will also help keep my writing dream alive. However, please understand that there is no pressure. I hope you enjoy reading my article.
