For those reading these issues in the future, it will be very difficult to know in what order they should be read. Despite being simply part of the King of the Demons storyline, each issue has a different title and is numbered #1.
That aside, this fifth part of Lords of the Makai finds Menat and Maggio battling two deadly characters who appear to have made a complete heel turn.
Viewed on its own, it’s action-packed and really fun, with the final page featuring a battle with an enemy that’s supposed to be your ally. But it’s not hard to get frustrated that as part of Lords of the Makai’s overall storyline, it keeps zooming in to spotlight specific characters or one-off battles without any progress in the overall apocalyptic situation.
Of course, in terms of artwork, Hunter Killers more than meets Udon’s usual standards. This is a really great manga.
It’s just a shame that the entire storyline seems completely bogged down, with little potential for a big crossover between both fighting game series on which it’s based, preferring primarily to introducing the Darkstalkers character, but it really pays off.
Hello! I’m Jason. I write articles for midlifegamergeek.com every day. Not only do I not earn any money from my writing here (though I do earn a small commission from affiliate links posted on my page, but as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases from these links), my work sometimes seems to be stolen and repurposed by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
No pressure, of course, but we really appreciate any support you can provide. You can easily support us through Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or the PayPal link.
