Walt Disney alumnus and debut comic book writer Chris Yates teams up with Simone Ragazzoni, an up-and-coming artist known for his work on Robotech: Rick Hunter, Power Rangers Universe, and Dune: Corino House, to launch his first creator-owned series, Marcus Walker: Kingslayer Protocol. The project launched exclusively on Kickstarter on March 3rd and is already gaining traction thanks to endorsements and variant covers from major brands across the industry.
The campaign features one-of-a-kind covers by New York Times bestselling authors Sean Murphy (Batman: White Knight, Tokyo Ghost) and Rob Guillory (Chew, Farmhand), as well as Siya Aum (Lady Mechanica, Neo-Wonderland) and Kevin Keene (King Spawn, The Gunslinger).
Marcus Walker: Kingslayer Protocol blends large-scale mech vs. monster action with a deep story about family, heritage, and self-discovery. Set in New Honolulu City, the series follows a long-running war between Kaiju and Kingslayer Mechs that forces Marcus Walker into hiding under the protection of his strict and domineering family. As old secrets tied to his bloodline resurface, Marcus is forced to confront the cost of his choices and a future he may not be able to escape.
“Marcus Walker: Kingslayer Protocol is a heart-pounding thriller that explores the nature of trauma and the invisible stranglehold of the past,” said Steven Maeda, co-creator and showrunner of Netflix’s One Piece. “A hilarious family adventure with big fights and big moods.”
