It’s capoeira warrior Elena’s turn to get the Street Fighter Masters treatment. In this issue, Elena invites her friends Ibuki and Makoto to an African village, only to learn that her parents have contracted with a shady construction company to build a giant arena in the area. When she is suspected of cheating, she is drawn into a fighting tournament in a new arena, and she and her friends are forced to stop the exploitation of their people.
This is the usual fast-paced, light-hearted fun you’ve come to expect from UDON’s long-running comic Street Fighter. They really know how to give the story the right creepy vibe, delivering gorgeous artwork and great fight sequences every time.
Street Fighter Masters: Elena #1 is no exception, an extremely accomplished standalone read that more than deserves its welcome.
That is, it is mostly standalone. The last few one-shots of Street Fighter Masters seem to be setting up a larger conflict for the heroic World Warriors to fight, and the last page or so further sets the scene. Will we see this develop elsewhere? My money is on the Street Fighter Prime series, which is scheduled to start later this year.
Hello! I’m Jason. I write articles for midlifegamergeek.com every day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human-generated content (that’s never been plagiarized or copied through the efforts of other writers), please help us keep this site running by making a donation.
Not only do I not earn any money from my writing here (although I do earn a small commission from affiliate links posted on my page, but as an Amazon Associate I do earn from qualifying purchases from these links), my work sometimes seems to be stolen and repurposed by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure, of course, but we really appreciate any support you can provide. You can easily support us through Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or the PayPal link.
Thank you very much for your donation. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to read my article. Please remember. This entire article is by Jason Brown and can be found at midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!
