DC Announces Details of Ongoing Series “THE FURY OF FIRESTORM” and “ZATANNA”

Last month, DC announced the first installment of its upcoming Next Level concept, which was first teased at October’s New York Comic Con. Today, the publisher announced two new titles that will debut in April. Among them are Jeff Lemire and Rafael De Latorre from The Fury of Firestorm, and Jamal Campbell from the new Zatanna series in the works

First to arrive is The Fury of Firestorm on April 1st. The recruitment text and cover information are as follows.

The community of Bedford, Colorado is a quiet, small town. People greet their neighbors, attend town hall meetings, and cheer on their local high school football teams on Friday nights. But this idyllic small town is turned upside down when nuclear humans arrive and begin experimenting. Without remorse or warning, the firestorm turned buildings to sand and people to glass. But what exactly drove Ronnie Raymond to this heinous act, and will anyone be able to contain Firestorm’s anger?

Brought to you by the acclaimed team of Jeff Lemire (Absolute Flash, JSA) and Rafael De Latorre (The Penguin), this explosive new series ignites the next big chapter in DC’s Next Level line.

Fury of Firestorm #1 includes orderable cardstock variations by Chris Burnham and Riley Rossmo priced at US$4.99 (US$3.99 main, US$6.99 foil). Lemire offers a 1:25 incentive version, and Burnham’s cover is also available as an open order foil version. Variations and blank sketch covers for DC: Next Level by Jorge Corona round out the assortment.

Next up is Zatanna, arriving April 29th from writer and artist Jamal Campbell. This announcement isn’t a complete surprise to fans after last year’s critically acclaimed miniseries that hinted at more stories to come.

Zatanna Zatara embarks on her greatest tour yet! As the new and first Prime Magus in thousands of years, Zatanna is now sworn in to oversee and guide the magical world. All eyes are on her.

How will she accomplish this grand task? How will she shoulder this heaviest responsibility? How will she face the horrors that await her in this forgotten history? With winks, glitz, and lots of magic!

All-star writer and artist Jamal Campbell (“Superman,” “Zatanna: It’s Showtime”) returns to the character in an encore performance following the conclusion of his limited comic series with DC’s Magic Queen in 2025, launching Zatanna into a new ongoing series.

Zatanna #1 has an open order card stock variation by Adam Hughes and Kyyong Eom priced at $4.99 USD ($3.99 USD main, $6.99 USD foil). Julian Totino Tedesco is offering a 1:25 incentive version, and the Hughes cover will also be available as an open order foil version. A Next Level variation by Jorge Corona and a blank sketch cover complete the lineup.

As before, DC also teased other characters and creators involved in the Next Level lineup.

DC NEXT LEVEL is part of the second act of DC ALL IN, a new publishing initiative highlighting characters such as Batwoman, Deathstroke, The Demon, Firestorm, Lobo, Barbara Gordon, Zatanna, the Teen Titans, and more. The creative roster includes Jeff Lemire, Greg Rucka, Javier Rodríguez, Jamal Campbell, Skottie Young, Mariko Tamaki, James Harren, Kyle Higgins, Joshua Williamson, Daniele Di Nicuolo, Michael Walsh, Carmine Di Giandomenico, Rafael De Latorre, Jorge Colon, Tony Fleecs, Amancay Nahuelpan, Deniz Camp, DaNi and so on.
