Next year is sure to be a big year for the Green Lantern Corps. Lanterns, starring Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as Jon Stewart, is set to debut on HBO Max. An official release date has not yet been announced, but it will likely be in late 2026, after Supergirl hits theaters. Before that, DC Publishing will be celebrating the milestone 600th issue of its main Green Lantern title.
The story takes place in 2023, when DC restarts a new Green Lantern series with the creative team of writer Jeremy Adams and artist Xermanico. Over the past two years, Adams and his various other allies have restored not only the Green Lantern Corps, but other legions across the emotional spectrum, to their former glory. Landmark Green Lantern #600 features guest GL creators. Of particular note are writer Ron Martz and artist Darryl Banks, perhaps best known for creating fan-favorite GL Kyle Rayner in the ’90s.
It’s no exaggeration to say that the relationship between Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris is a romance that rivals that of Batman and Catwoman. After regaining her Star Sapphire mantle and powers, Carol embraced superherodom and became a member of the Justice League Unlimited to boot. In the process, Hal and Carol seem to have rekindled the flame of love. As teased in Green Lantern #600, Carol and Hal may be adding some new rings. If indeed Hal Jordan finally settles down, we hope we get to experience a wedding better than Batman and Catwoman’s.

In this extra-large 600th issue, Hal Jordan will be tested like never before…and if he fails, a new Lantern is ready to take his place. While Hal embarks on a mysterious mission, Kyle Reiner finally returns to Los Angeles and resumes his duties as Earth’s Green Lantern. Join Kyle as he finds jobs, directs traffic, and chases down villains who have escaped from Oa! All this, plus a host of legendary guest artists and writers from Lanterns’ past, and answers to questions posed to Star Sapphire in previous issues…
Meanwhile, Guy Gardner is in the spotlight in the pages of Green Lantern Corps’ ongoing titles. Gardner has always been a popular character among comic book fans, but he’s definitely found a wider audience in recent months thanks to his portrayal by Nathan Fillion in the new Superman movie. Fillion will reprise his role in the aforementioned “Lantern” series.

After constantly receiving visions of disappeared sentient entities, Guy assembles an elite team to track them down. At the same time, John Stewart and Katma Tui encounter old enemies in New Colgar.
Meanwhile, the King of Atlantis will travel to the stars in the Aquaman series this March. The series will be officially retitled Emperor Aquaman starting with issue #15. This new Aquaman ongoing series was launched last year by the creative team of writer Jeremy Adams and artist John Timms. Just as he did with Green Lantern, Adams certainly redefined Aquaman and his place in the DC Universe. As DC has teased, fans can expect Aquaman to face a new enemy named the Crimson Queen. It’s hard not to pick up this book when you see the image of Aquaman riding Starro the Conqueror.
