Titan Manga has announced that it will publish the English version of the supernatural horror manga series “Eco Eco Azaraku REBORN” by J. Yamada on Anime Trend in May 2025. This manga is a remake of the Eco Eco Azaraku series, originally written by the late manga artist Shinichi Koga, and was serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion magazine from September 1975 to March 1979, and 19 volumes were published. Volume 1 of the manga will be released in bookstores, comic shops, and e-retailers on April 28, 2026.
Koga’s Eko Eko Azaraku manga series, about Misa Kuroi, a powerful witch who is sent on a harrowing journey to hell by a mysterious stranger, was the inspiration for six live-action films from 1995 to 2006, a live-action television series in 1997, and a two-episode OVA series in 2007. These movies and TV series are currently available to stream on Shudder, Crunchyroll, and Amazon Prime. Video in some areas. In addition, Eko Eko Azaraku inspired two video games.
Jta’s remake of Koga’s manga was serialized in Akita Shoten’s Champion RED magazine from March 19, 2020 to March 17, 2023, and five volumes were released during the series.
Official description of the manga story by Titan Manga:
Eko Eko Azaraku Reborn is a chilling remake of the 1975-1979 classic that brings back the terrifying world of witchcraft, demons, and black magic. Misa Kuroi, a powerful witch awakened by humanity’s darkest desires, is summoned by a mysterious stranger and sent on a harrowing journey to hell. Misa must face both her dark past and Lucifer himself, confront unimaginable horrors, and unleash her true powers to survive.
Created by Shinichi Koga and reimagined by Jita Yamada, EcoEcoAzaraku Reborn combines supernatural horror with psychological thrills, gore, and occult mystery. Fans of paranormal adventure and dark, atmospheric storytelling will be hooked from the first page. This first volume sets the stage for a nightmarish battle against the forces of hell, demons, and black magic as Misa embarks on a journey to save her sister and confront her own destiny.
Before Eko Eko Azaraku Reborn, Jta adapted Nobuaki Kanazawa’s hit mobile phone novel King’s Game into a manga called King’s Game Origins, which Crunchyroll released in English. Jta is also the author of “Asatte no Houkou”, which was the inspiration for the 2006 TV anime “Ikiru Tomorrow”, and the manga “Inou Maze”, which was completed in 2018 with Shinichi Okada.
