Canada Post has released a second series of limited edition stamps celebrating Canada’s contribution to the world of graphic novels. The new set is available now and features original designs from each creator, depicting the main characters reading the graphic novels they appear in.
A set of 6 Canadian playwrights who attracted attention in 2025
Authors featured in the new set include Kate Beaton (Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands, 2022), Jimmy Beaulieu (Unadventure: The First Man’s Plan, 2013), Guy Delisle (Jerusalem: Chronicles from the Holy City, 2012), and Julie Doucet (Journal, 2004, also known as). 365 Days in English), Brian Lee O’Malley (Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life, 2004), Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas (Red: A Haida Manga, 2009).
“Canada has produced some notable graphic novelists, and this stamp issue highlights six influential Canadian creators,” Canada Post Magazine wrote. “Not only have these individuals become prominent in their respective fields, but each of their works demonstrates a diverse and unique approach to storytelling that resonates with readers.”
You can order these stamps from the Canada Post website, but you must be Canadian to purchase them. Shipping to the United States, which was previously possible, has been temporarily suspended due to “customs changes” and shipping to other international destinations is not available.
The 12-stamp booklet (featuring two stamps each and an official first day cover) is priced at $14.88 CAD and is a limited edition of 1.56 million pieces. We are not out of stock, but the stock will end as soon as it runs out. Each creator’s official first day cover costs CA$2.24 and includes 12 stamps, but only 4,000 of each were produced.
2024 sets still available
Only the booklet of the previous stamp set, which debuted in May 2024, is still available (960,000 pieces originally issued). Starring Chester Brown (Louis Riel: A Comic-Strip Biography, 2003), Michel Ravagliati (Paul à Québec, 2009, English version: The Song of Roland, 2012), Seth (Clyde Fans, 2019), and Cousins Gillian and Mariko Tamaki (This One Summer, 2014). Retail price is $9.92 CAD.
Combined, the two sets will feature a total of 10 Canadian graphic novelists, but I wonder who will appear in the American version…
