Hellboy creator Mike Mignola has reteamed with acclaimed artist Rachel Arraño (Yultide, Mel: The Chosen) to return to the world of Leonid the Vampire in a new two-part comic book event, debuting this spring from Dark Horse Comics. Written by Mignola with art by Araño, colors by Dave Stewart, and letters by Clem Robbins, Leonid the Vampire: House of Yonda gives readers new insight into Leonid’s origins and sends her on an unpredictable new adventure.
Both issues will feature covers by Aragno, with the first issue’s variation by Mignola and the second issue’s variation by Marc Laslow.
“I am obsessed with Leonid and her story,” Arraño said in a statement. “When Mike and I created her, we never believed there would be such a vast world behind her, filled with stories, ancestry, and gothic castles. I could draw her for hours, guided by Mike’s words and empowered in everything he does. These two comics reveal a new backstory for this little vampire and help us understand and love her better.”
“Readers loved Leonid in the first two one-shots, and this two-parter will draw them even deeper into her web,” added Dark Horse Comics editor Katie O’Brien. “Mike and Rachel seamlessly blend horror and fairy tales to deliver a story that is as terrifying as it is captivating.”
Leonid first appeared in Mignola and Alagno’s 2022 one-shots Leonid the Vampire: Miracle of the Crow’s Head and Leonid the Vampire: A Crow’s Christmas, in which a young vampire is pursued by an undead priest on a journey to charm and terrorize unsuspecting villagers and save the world from a bloodthirsty plot.
Leonid the Vampire: House of Yonda begins after Leonid is chased away by his latest target. The unsuspecting good Samaritan finds her unresponsive and takes the wagon to the doctor…but when the wagon arrives, the drivers are mummified and the girl is missing, with only seeds left in her place. This two-part story searches the ancestral home of a missing girl and uncovers her shocking family history.
Leonid the Vampire: The House of Yonda arrives in comic shops on March 18, 2026.
