ICE has become one of the defining issues of the Trump administration’s vision for America. That militarization is creating new problems. That is, as cities and towns with large immigrant populations turn into war zones, masked men with guns locking communities behind doors, fearing that their dreams and attempts at a safe and stable existence will come to an abrupt end.
But people around the world are taking up the task of resisting deportation authorities’ operations through protests, education, and community cooperation. Spreading the good word about how to protect yourself from the violent acts so thoroughly documented by these brave people is a key element in the fight for human rights and human decency in immigration matters. Zines and posters have proven to be an excellent means of communication in this regard.
As they have done many times before, Everyone Comics is committed to communicating important information to the community at the next Hands Off NYC Zine and Poster event, scheduled for November 15, 2025 at the store’s location (831 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, NY).
This creative gathering was held in partnership with Hands Off New York City, a collaborative effort supported by labor unions, faith leaders, and community groups that operates on principles of nonviolent resistance. They are currently reaching out to the manga community to further incorporate art into this effort.
Hands Off is a response to ICE and federal government overreach in New York City. It aims to strengthen local power to foster a safer environment for everyone who calls this city home. Their website has detailed information about upcoming events and other public gatherings.
The event description is as follows:
