Dynamite Entertainment today announced plans to release the 2025 Gargoyles Winter Special, bringing a bit of a festive spirit to the world of Disney’s beloved animated series. Gargoyles creator Greg Weisman team brings team stories to life with veteran author/editor Nate Cosby, bringing George Kambadais (The Flash) back into the world of Gargoyles on Art. Gargoyles Winter Special 2025 #1, scheduled for release in December, will be shipped with the covers by Kambadais, Jae Lee, Roger Langridge and Alessandro Ranaldi.
The story focuses on unsolved crimes that have been plagued by Elisa Maza (Gargoyle Goliath’s girlfriend) for many years, NYPD detective and girlfriend of Gargoyle Goliath. Broadway wants to help her close up the cold case, but that’s not too simple… partly because of his “assistant,” the Bronx and Bull Terrier Lance (first seen in last winter special).
“It’ll be a lot of fun to see Trenchcoat and Fedora return to Broadway to solve the mystery,” said author and franchise creator Greg Weissman. “The emotional weight that Elisa brings to this unresolved case from her past, throwing the Bronx and Lance is just on the cake!”

According to the official announcement, “This will return to the scene of Elisa’s case and begin to uncover the incredible mysteries that will affect not only Elisa but all members of the Gargoyle!”
Editor and co-author Nate Cosby added: “I had itching to do the mystery of the holiday. I’m so happy that Broadway is reminding me that I love the detective show (as seen in the classic Gargoyle episode, “Silver Falcon.”

Gargoyles was released as an animated series of Walt Disney TV Animation in 1994 and aired on Syndication with Disney-owned ABC until its end in 1997. The 78 episodes running was important and a fan favorite. Movie: The Hero has woken up.
The character has appeared in comics many times since the manga’s release, first appearing in Disney Adventure magazine, where the Gargoyle comic was edited by Beat’s own Heidi MacDonald. Wiseman was also involved peripherally in these stories, as he ended after 11 issues in the case of his Marvel run in 1995.
The property then landed in Slave Labour Graphics in 2006. There, Wiseman not only was in full control, but he also continually reconfigured the third season of the television show. The series ran until 2008 when SLG lost its license. As Skybound did with Trans and Gi Joe, Dynamite at one point expressed interest in collecting Marvel and SLG comics, bringing most of the character’s printing history under one roof.
Gargoyles Winter Special 2025 #1 arrives at the comic bookstore in December.
