Something strange is happening in the White House, but once, as usual, isn’t just politics.
Actress and comic book author Hanna Rose May brings her latest IDW series to life with the help of Washington, DC’s most infamous home, the White House, the exorcism at 1600 pen, and the Jaw of the Demonic, Vanessa Del Rey (artist), Geordy Bellard (colored), and Husun Otzman Eleha (letter). Fusing sharp political satire, the exorcism with 1600 pen pens offers a frightening, timely series that sinks teeth into corruption under rhetoric, and explores what will happen if unholy powers take root in the White House.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Beat catches up in May to discuss the twisted inspiration behind exorcism in 1600 Penn, how she balances horror and satire, and why this is the perfect story for our time (even if it was written before a woman ran for the president). Oh, and for fun, we also discussed her being an animal foster parent.
