Pride comes to life in a whole new way this November as the Lion King arrives in comic book form from writer and artist Edwin Garmont.

Set in the golden age of Disney classics in 1994, the series explores the bond between Mufasa and the young Simba. Readers continue as fathers and sons navigate vast lands of pride, facing threats from both external forces and tensions within their pack. Along the way, Mufasa fuses Simba with a moment of sincere mentorship with the playful father and son adventures, teaching Simba what it means to be king.

For Galmon, a longtime Disney fan and veteran cover artist of Dynamite’s Disney line (Lilo & Stitch, The Terminator), the project illustrates both his greatest artistic effort and his debut as a comic writer.

“Working with the Lion King is a dream come true,” Garmon said. “As a child, my favorite part of the film was the Simba and Mufasa scene because it had something to do with the love and respect I had for my father.

The new series promises a blend of iconic characters and fresh faces, offering a family-friendly adventure that is perfect for longtime fans and newcomers. To celebrate the launch, Dynamite enlisted Meghan Hetrick, Jacob Edgar and Julia Romuruno for a stunning variant cover.

As one of Disney’s most famous and award-winning films, The Lion King has captivated audiences for decades. Now, this comic book expansion is built on its legacy, bringing fans back to Prideland for timeless stories of love, leadership and legacy.
