This Wednesday, Apocalypse Age will make its long-awaited comeback! To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the groundbreaking crossover of the 90s, Marvel is launching Apocalypse’s X-Men, the sixth epic poem by legendary writer Jeff Loeb, one of the architects of the original event, joined by AIZN-nominated artist Simone Di Meo. The Saga kicks off with X-Men in Apocalypse Alpha #1, then runs through X-Men in Apocalypse Omega #1, and closes with X-Men in Apocalypse Omega #1.
Set on the fallout of the original event, the story follows the X-Men suffering from the battle of the Apocalypse as they enter the main Marvel universe to ensure the survival of the world. Their mission brings them to conflict not only with the classic X-Men, but with the companions of Apocalypse survivor Nate Gray. To succeed, this war-covered team of mutants must return to the foundations of the mutant kind themselves.
The X-Men of Apocalypse #2, arriving in December, features Dimeo’s main cover with special contributions from Arthur Adams, Russell Dorman, Stephen Pratt, Joshua “Sway” Swaby and Joe Madelaya. Returning to the franchise for the first time in decades, Madirayra celebrates the blink of a co-creation with dynamic variants that are also available in the Virgin Edition.
The robe reflects the project:
“It’s a lot of fun to revisit the first issue of the X-Men in 1963. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby were at the pinnacle of their power and created icons that still dominate pop culture today. The original cast was young and hopeful.
