DC Comics and Penguin Random House Audio have announced a new full-cast audio adaptation of Mark Waid and Alex Ross’ legendary 1996 series Kingdom Come, directed by Dirk Maggs. The new drama adaptation, scheduled for release on November 18th, 2025, will showcase the original scores by over 30 actors, sound effects and James Honeygan (who previously worked with Magus on the Sandman Audiobook).

When the kingdom comes, we see another future where our heroes have retired. But their Koichi has brought crimes at bay by non-heroic groups. That justice makes them as immoral and dangerous as the criminals themselves. Unable to stand aside anymore, Superman and the Justice League returned to the fight, reminding the world that justice really means.
Mags said: “I have adapted and directed the award-winning audiobooks of the iconic DC Comics Superman and Batman stories for over 30 years, and of which Kingdom has always been a runaway from Orchestra Score.”
In this project, Mark Thompson, who appeared in the first collaboration between DC and Random House Audio (All-Star Superman) earlier this year, will re-reveal the role of The Man of Steel. Other cast members include Glenlage as Batman, Lowlaking as Wonder Woman, Kelly Sher as Spectre, William Disadvantage as Billy Batson, Edouardo Ballerini (The Sopranos) as Norman McKay, Garrick Hagon as Wessed Dos, Tom Alexander, John Chander as Magwood, and Zack Snap of Rayberwood (Lex Luthor).
Prior to this, Kingdom Come was adapted to the 1998 audio drama by Hatchette Audio, based on the book’s prose novel by Elliot S. Maggin. That element is borrowed by other media such as “The Crisis of the Infinite Earth,” but Kingdom Come has not been adopted in animation or other films (what Bruce Timm said in 2017 as budgetary reasons). Waid himself provided the voice for the 1998 version. This featured some cameos from other comic creators and editors, but whether this is not visible even in the case of new audiobooks.
