Will the DC booth return in 13 years?

News and information about New York Comics Scam 2025 came out in stable clips. This week, the show’s floor map was removed…and it’s amazing!

The show floor is getting a big makeover – about it soon – but the big shocker is in the top right corner. Based on this map, it appears that DC Comics will have another booth!

I reached out to confirm this, but at least for a dedicated con scholar like me, it would be great news.

DC’s 2014 display at the South Concourse during setup.

DC was one of the show’s founding exhibitors, and it was launched in 2006, but in 2013 the booth moved from the show floor to an area known as the “South Concourse.” I wrote the story at the time, and the reason I was given was to allow for a great display of Superman costumes. And in fact, this space has been removed from the usual show floor hrlyburly, allowing plenty of attractive displays, making it a kind of pleasant oasis. Although it hasn’t been publicly stated, it was said at the time that one of the reasons for leaving the floor was security. The area around the booth in 2012 was very crowded and was considered unsafe.

CON disappeared due to Covid 2020, but when we returned in 2021 there were no DC booths or areas. This followed DC tragically abandoning its San Diego Comic-Con prime booth space in 2019, but returned in 2023 at a different, less central location. But from the appearance of things, they’re back in NYCC with a huge, huge booth, like the old days of Marvel. Certainly a booth set.

But this is just one of the changes to the show floor. The DC booth is located in the right corner along with other publishers, including AWA, Comixology Originals, Mad Cave, Vault, IDW, and more, as shown on the map. In recent years this has been the setting for food carts – including the very tasty banmi, I might add – so while we get more cartoons, we get fewer smoothies and pretzels.

Many other changes are shown on the map. This is the “entertainment area” that Funko once was. Funko is actually in front of the “Comic Zone,” but sister brands Mondo and Lounge Fly are located in the middle.

However, the “publisher area” consisting of Penguin Random House, Scholastic, Harper Alley and other mainstream book publishers is more central, but PRH is in the middle of Walmart, Neka and Sanrio. This will be a busy and busy area. I recommend avoiding this on Saturday if possible.

Another thing, and most important to me and the rest of the Beat staff, as revealed a week ago, is handed over to the professionals with a pro lounge, two stages, and, if you’re lucky, coffee.

I’ll go into more about pro graming in future posts, but the cosplay staging area is in front of the hall, and I rushed to reach the meeting in a time of colourful and misery. So, all of the Beat staff were overjoyed when they heard this. Yes, we know we have privileges, but having clean space for using Power and WiFi is a boon to cover the show. Don’t hate us.

Also, for everyone who complained about getting a panel this year, there’s little space to program along with everything else that has to be squeezed out. For example, Level 1 only has two panel rooms.

As I have observed many times, SDCC is roughly the same year every year, NYCC is a new adventure every time, and in 2025 you will need to discover many new routes and shortcuts.
