We’ve talked a bit about the recent fate of Archie Comics, but there’s a lot of life left in the franchise! And they’re still surged enough to cross over in the most unlikely places.
Scenery scattered by zombies in the dark universe, etc. It’s only billed as the first of a series of blockbuster pop culture collaborations, with Dynamite Entertainment and Archie Comics teaming up for Archie and the military’s darkness. However, this is not the first time two publishers have become tangos. Previously, Redsonja and Vampirella meet Betty and Veronica by Amy Chu and Maria Laura Sanapo.
The AOD/Archie crossover creative team has not been announced. If you know both properties, you can actually write the story yourself, but here’s the logline.
Riverdale’s idyllic town faces all sorts of unexpected guests and multinational threats, but I don’t like this at all. In the upcoming comic book series, Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead and the rest of the gang will fight against all the sources of evil as the army of darkness and the Necronomicons are surrounded by town in Pep. Luckily for them, the only Ash Williams with his trademark wit and boomstick, is together to ride when they beat a huge horde. . . Or try and die.
“Ash Williams has seen it all: demonic powers, time travel, monster doppelganger. But Ash may be in his toughest battle: fight a horde of dead tights along with a group of teenagers!” Archie Comics said in a statement that he is editor Jamie L. Rotante’s senior director. “Thankfully, Archie and his friends are not strangers to the undead. And when these two horror icons collide, no one could see what the madness would happen!”
“Working with other Titans in the industry is always an explosion,” said Nick Barca, CEO and publisher of Dynamite. “We look forward to going back to business with the whole Archie and the Riverdale crew and creating some exciting stories for our fans. Leading the franchise that started everything for us with Dynamite was the perfect choice.
No teaser artwork has been revealed for this collaboration, but I imagined my take below.
