I love the fresh take on classic stories. That’s why I enjoy media like Predator: Killer of Killers and the Pronging Alien: Earth. I recently entered the Alien franchise after watching Alien: Romulus. Since then, I have devoured all the movies and cartoons that I have available to take place in the brutal universe of Xenomorph. Aliens: Paradiso with writer Steve Fox and artists Edgar Salazar, Jason Muher, Victor Nava, Carlos Lopez and Peter Nuguen were exciting fresh take on aliens, a real explosion from start to finish.
As a trade paperback itself, Alien: Paradiso is great, but there’s nothing special about it over the top. I love the casino design on the credit page and was delighted to see that the collection includes five full-size variant covers. The cover and variant cover are beautiful, and I especially J. We were able to see variations of Gonzo, Sumit Kumar and Neeraj Menon below. For $17.99, I think this issue 5 deal is worth buying, especially if you’re an alien fan and want to bolster your Xenomorph Comic Collection.

We are grateful that Disney’s acquisition of 20th century studios has led to great comic collaborations for franchises such as Planet of the Apes, Predator and of course Alien. Alien’s Basic premise: Paradiso is that a pair of colonial ex-s travels to Paradiso, a wealthy casino resort, and gathers information about the galaxy’s crime leader, Ricky Valentine, as a group of Xenomorphs attacks the resort. The characters are forced to work together in an attempt to survive the Xenomorph attack, and the story is full of many drama, plots and twists.
Perhaps my favorite part of this whole series is the art done by Peter Nuguen. Though not Paradiso’s main artist, Nguyen is responsible for explaining the “Xenomorph POV” sequence. Throughout the series, readers can see the Xenomorph attacks on Paradiso through the eyes of the alien, offering a very exciting new perspective on the iconic Xenomorph. Another art of Salazar, Nava and Moore is also a great and truly brutal thing that shows the horrifying emotions of the resort’s patrons and the monstrous deaths they encounter. Plus, the colours of Carlos Lopez are really excellent throughout the series.

I thought the characterization of the main crew – Ricky, Tsura, Dash, Lydia and Videl – was fantastic. They grounded a relatively short, limited series by being incredibly, appropriately responsive and perfectly in line with the world construction that other projects in the Alien Universe have undertaken. Like other alien media, we are first experiencing the incredible effects of “chest fuel,” including the fact that Tsula actually revealed to be the daughter of Thomas Kane, the executive officer of USS Nostromo. The final twist is a real gut punch that is very in line with the themes of unethical corporate practices and the influence of late stage capitalism, setting Paradiso into a potential sequel comic.
Alien: Paradiso is recommended for almost anyone. If you’re a lifelong fan of the Alien franchise, if you’ve recently become obsessed with Alien: Earth, or have never touched Xenomorph before, I think this collection is a great introduction to the alien universe. Touching on the larger themes that exist in the franchise, Alien: Paradiso is based on solid character development, timing and violent narratives of stunning art. You need to pick this up!
