News from Fallout unfolds like a classic 50’s sci-fi/horror film, introducing the threats that emerged from the nuclear horror of the time, setting the idea that a group of survivors must overcome the above threats. They also keep some things close to the vest. Why did this bomb turn a group of soldiers into bloodthirsty monsters? How do people who gather at the diner survive? News from Fallout #3 begin to peel off some of the layers surrounding its central mystery, diving deep into the bonds that some of the characters share.
Like the previous issue, the news for Fallout #3 begins with a flashback to “Before the Bomb,” and this time around Cook Charlie from Old Joe Diner. So far, Charlie has been the only voice of reason. He was able to tell and speak about the conflict before ughing, and spoke to a private fallow when a young soldier exploded into the diner. However, during the flashback, the conversation reveals everything he knows to the point where he hasn’t left it for years. Today, he is forced to move forward after firing a “rotten” diner, making some difficult choices along the way.
Chris Condon shows off his character’s work in the news of Fallout #3 as he delves deep into how diner residents deal with rotten people. Most of them know that people outside are not human, but there is one opponent who is willing to do what they need to do for past connections. Plus, it makes clear that not all rotten monsters are heartless monsters and suggest a greater purpose with bombs. I’m honestly worried about what comes next in the way this story is structured.

I sometimes felt genuine fear thanks to Jeffrey Alan Love’s artwork. The characters in Love Pictures move more than make up for the lack of detail. You can see the tension in people’s bodies. They rolled the true inhuman nature of a man, the pinprick of bright light that is boring in the soul of the reader, moaning in the darkness, where they crave. Whenever a character gets shot in the head or torn by one of the rotten things, it makes it even more unsettling. Love may not show all the bloody details, but he also does not avoid the damage that is being done.
Another detail to add to the mystery surrounding the news of Fallout #3 is the issue of a backpage carefully crafted by Love and Hassan Ottomane Elhau. With receipts crumpled, mock ads at gas stations, and transcriptions of conversations between military officers, this world leads more lives. While the Bug Wars may have been spoiled by an approach that embodies its own myth, I wish there was more to it. Anyway, news from Fallout #3 brings revelation and fear to equality once the series reaches a midpoint.

Condon has a great gift for the character’s work, and makes the character’s actions speak as much as words.
Love knows how to stage his art sequences for the best of his efforts, especially when it comes to the scary factors.
Several layers surrounding the bombs and “rotten” suggest a greater mystery.
