International Dog Day! To celebrate, The Beat exclusively looks at Death Dog’s new science fiction Duology, written by Bryce Ingman and illustrated by Alan Robinson. The debut issue features cover art by Robinson and Shannon Wheeler, and is expected to debut this fall.

Here’s an overview:

In the near future America where most children have jobs instead of going to school, 13-year-old Wyatt, accused of shoplifting, is being pursued by a murderous robot dog. Fortunately for Wyatt, the mystical events turn one of his terrifying pursuers into a tame, passionate, loving robodog who connects with and protects Wyatt from the regular horrors of his cruel society. If you live a 13 year old in a country where no one protects children, it’s good to have a deadly robot dog in your corner.

Check out Death Dog #1 interior art.

“Are you like me? Are you scared of robot dogs? Every time the police station sees news reports about debuting a new robot dog, or a viral video showing how fast and strong the latest fake dogs are strong, I imagine it chasing me. “Basically, robot dogs will sneak me up!

“But recently, can I write a story about a soulless robot dog that will become a soulful hero dog? Can I scare it and turn it into something good? And Ahoy was kind enough to let it go. A world that doesn’t bother me about either,” he continued.

“I wasn’t that much of a dog, but thanks to Blythe I learned to love and fear dogs at the same time…especially robotic dogs!

Ahoy Editor-in-Chief Tom Peyer said that Death Dog is a comedy sci-fi story, “I need to mention how soulful it is. It’s so moving. I can also tell you that from the kindness of Blythe and Alan’s death dogs.”

Death Dog #1 will be available on November 5th at digital and local comic shops.
