After a brief entanglement, Nightwing continues his story of meeting Nightwing and Nightwing Prime. Yes, the Crypton legend himself meets his legacy. Still, something seems to be missing. And, by that, why did Nightwing Prime send Nightwing to his death? ! But don’t worry! Delicious soups will save you the day. literally. Now that may still make no sense to you, but trust me, someone cooked here. Well, I got a pun from my system so let’s talk about this issue! Dan Watters and Dexter Soy conclude the strange acquisition of Titans Tower, which was accidentally caused by the issue, and the pair wraps things around pretty well.
DC
What I was really grateful for about this arc was how Dan Watters caused countless damage to Titans Tower, bringing some strange monsters and eccentric allies, and more sincere. Here we see how Watters can find ways to show how soup can resonate at a higher emotional level, thanks to how it contrasts with the absurdness of threats Nightwing faces. Nightwing Prime is a very formidable threat to Nightwing, but I am grateful that Watters can show how Nightwing can overcome this threat, even if he is not actually a cousin of Superman Krypton. Overall, Watters did a great job incorporating this arc’s eccentric nature, turning it into another example of how exciting the hero Nightwing is for people. Overall, the issue has great pacing and concludes the story with a shocking cliffhanger that shows things are far from far away for Nightwing and his new potential allies.
DC
Dexter Soy continues to really surprise me. He balances the slow, emotional ending of this issue, as he balances the first fast action, so I discovered that the work of the soy line can be detailed and can match changes in pacing throughout the story. And while I’m not always thinking that Gandini’s colours work well with the tone of some of the issues in the series up until now, this arc proves me really wrong. Again, Gandini uses vibrant colors to help move the story forward. This issue has pages filled with particularly sharp and vibrant hues, while others have warm tones, or sometimes thick shading that reinforces the problem. This is done by colour correlating with the urgency of the problem. Some warm moments feel more calm, others are electrical and action-filled. Overall, I felt that this issue was brilliantly portrayed, with fun panels and sharp colours that helped to enhance the tone of the story and turn something a little weird into a wonderful, creative story.
DC
Overall, Nightwing #129 brings together an interesting arc very well. This issue does a lot to push the series in an interesting direction, and Nightwing appears to be placed in tighter corners. Mystical Nightwing Prime remains an unknown friend/enemy that Nightwing must deal with in the future, as unprecedented mystical sphere solutions find further ways to complicate his relationship with him. However, this issue is an interesting read that employs unique characters such as Nite-Mite and uses unusual magical elements that are not related to Nightwing, pushing the series in a new direction that intriguing.
“Nightwing” #129 feels like a good soup
Nightwing #129
Nightwing #129 is a fascinating story filled with action, hearts, and ends with an unexpected cliffhanger.
Dan Watters is more than capable of providing an exciting new story for Nightwing.
The connection to what saves Nightwing from his current predicament is to remind him of how Nightwing’s roots shaped him into today’s hero.
The cliffhanger is an exciting new twist and will certainly complicate Nightwing’s life moving forward.
The Nightwings threats facing Titans Tower have not been so threatening.
As interesting as this new direction involving Nightwing Prime, it is unclear why it prompted this change in the series’ tone.
