Earlier this year, writer Jeff Loeb joined forces with artist Simone Di Meo on a backup story for the Apocalypse of a Special Era. As Marvel fans know, Roeb was one of the architects of its classic 90s storylines. This year’s publisher, which marks AOA’s 30th anniversary, teased a new project from Loeb and Di Meo later this year. Sure enough, today the publisher has released details of the Apocalypse X-Men, a six-part event series that will arrive this November.

Official press release below:

Age of Apocalypse returned to Apocalypse’s X-Men, a six-part event series by author Legendary Scribe Jeph Loeb, the original event, and Eisner was nominated for artist Simone Di Meo.

Di Meo teases Loeb’s iconic co-creation, Nate Gray, aka X-Man’s revival! Legendary artist Arthur Adams has spotlighted Rogue, Magneto and Gambit. Bestselling cover artist Fang Yang offers a stunning portrait of Blink, one of Ages, the biggest breakout stars of the Apocalypse. And influential 90s superstar Joe Madirayra continues a series of covers featuring the very characters who helped define them in the moving portrayal of the Apocalypse’s stormy era. Another creator of the original Age of Apocalypse, Madirayra returns to the franchise for the first time in decades for this special anniversary event, creating variant covers for each issue of the Apocalypse. The Madureira cover can also be used as an alternative virgin version.

The X-Men in Apocalypse #1 presents the showdown that fans have been waiting for: X-Men in Apocalypse. The creepy X-Men! The Apocalypse X-Men is in Marvel’s universe – that’s very bad for the creepy X-Men!

Taken in the direct aftermath of the explosive finale of the original crossover, the Apocalypse X-Men rekindles this iconic real-life X-Men mission as they travel here to ensure the survival of the universe. This hopeless mission takes them into the main Marvel universe, where they confront their classic counterparts and affect the fate of both teams forever!

“I’ve been a huge Jeff fan for years,” Di Meo told AIPT in today’s X-Men Monday column. “I’ve read a lot of his books with great artists like Joe Madilaya. I’m really fortunate to work on this project. But there are times when I’m under pressure for this reason because a lot of people know Jeff’s work and need to do their best to make something special with him.”

When Nate Gray resurrected, Loeb said, “The Apocalypse will not be complete with X-Man! We are excited to return to Mutantkind’s biggest psychic powerhouse.
