Welcome to another creepy edition of X-Men on Monday at X-Fans, AIPT!

Fan Expo Boston 2025 may be in the rearview mirror, but there is an interview to share from the Artist Alley. X-Men Monday recently spoke to author Jeph Loeb. He praised the apocalypse collaborator X-Men.

“His pages excite me. Now I feel like I’m trying to catch up with a driver in an F1 race car,” Roeb said. “Action and drama are on par. On top of that, he symbolizes and colors his work, which always brings out something special and amazing.”

So when you hear it, and you’re in the same convention center as Simone – why don’t you attack the conversation? Make sure Simone has to say.

AIPT: Welcome to X-Men Monday, Simone! So, do you feel like a superstar comic writer like Apocalypse X-Men – Jeff Loeb wants to hit your artwork and work with you?

Simone Di Meo: I’ve been a huge Jeff fan for years. I read many of his books with great artists like Joe Madrila. I’m really fortunate to work on this project, but I’m under pressure for this reason as many people know Jeff’s work and need to do their best to create something special with him. So I’m trying to use this experience to improve my art and skills.

AIPT: Well, in that memo, when the Apocalypse X-Men was announced, you said you were working to make the best books of your career. How are you pushing yourself as an artist?

Simone: For this book, I am trying to recognize what I need to modify based on my past work. I think readers will recognize the change as I have changed a lot. Not from a style perspective, my goal is to create something that’s easy to read. I did Batman and Robin and I put a lot of energy on the page. Sometimes I think it was too much!

Jeff is a great storyteller, so I watch his script and try my best to make everything easier. It’s sometimes difficult because there are so many characters. But I hope my storytelling gets even better after this series!

AIPT: Before you worked on this project, were you an X-Men fan? If so, what was your first X-Men experience?

Simone: I’m certainly a fan of the X-Men, but my first experience was in the film…

aipt: X-fans, Jeffrove, who also had a table at Fan Expo Boston at this point in the interview, approached Simone’s table. So, of course, I’m going to include it!

Simone (to Jeff): Jeff, sorry…

Jeph Loeb: Everyone is talking about you, not me right now!

Simone: It’s strange to talk to you and you here.

Jeff: Okay, then I’ll go. (Walking) But now I should say, Simone Di Meo is a man!

Simone: But after watching the X-Men movie, I read a lot of the classic X-Men series, and I’m a huge fan.

AIPT: Who is your favorite X-Men character you draw in X-Men in Apocalypse?

Simone: I love drawing sabertooth. And Wolverine is one of my favorites. Because I can create dynamic poses and something crazy with him. I love drawing every member of the team in the series. But Sabertooth is my favorite right now.

aipt: Finally, before you go back to scam, do you have any thoughts about what you want to tackle after the apocalypse?

Simone: I will be exclusive for the next few years and will be able to work with this amazing company. Right now I’m drawing a lot of X-Men, so my next project is like a solo book lol. There are probably some backgrounds and skyscrapers. I certainly want to draw Spider-Man – I’m a huge Spider-Man fan. I love Miles Morales. So my fingers crossed.

AIPT: I’m crossing too! But on that note, thank you for stopping by X-Men Monday and Simone!

X-Fans, X-Men of the Apocalypse: Alpha #1 can be picked up when it is released on September 3, 2025.

But wait, more… there’s Fan Expo Boston 2025 coverage! I returned late today for an interview with author Tini Howard. There, we look back at work with Betsy Braddock and Rachel Summers at Xoffice, looking forward to the upcoming creator-owned boom. Studios series, Marian Heretic.

Until then, X-Fans will remain exceptional!
