The digital comic platform GlobalComix (available on iOS/Android and the web) is a digital mecca for comics around the world. From DC Comics to Archie, GlobalComix has it all. But it looks like it’s going to get even better. If somehow you could look into catalogs of over 100,000 comics, what would you guess? You can try your hand in manga.
Yes, manga. And not just a handful, but thousands.
With who? Well, this groundbreaking partnership is nothing more than Kodansha, one of Japan’s most iconic manga publishers. The move is set to dramatically expand global access to some of the most beloved titles in manga history. The deal marks GlobalComix’s first collaboration with leading Japanese manga publishers, marking “a new era of manga accessibility and global reach.” And they’re not exaggerating.
On August 21st, readers will access over 500 hand-picked books from Kodansha’s catalogue, spanning action, romance, sci-fi and fantasy. The launch lineup includes fan favorites such as Attack Titan, Witch’s Hat Atelier, and Vinland Saga. For better accessibility!
A week later, on August 27th, thousands of additional cartoon volumes arrive, including dates and dates Simulpubs and a large back catalogue of popular series. All Kodansha titles are sold at A-La-Carte, and GlobalComix Gold members receive exclusive purchase discounts.
Here are the highlighted series to launch on August 21st:
The attack on the boys of Titan Battle Angel Alita (including Last Order and Mars Chronicle) runs Riot Cardcaptor Sakura (Collector’s Edition & Clear Card) Ghost in the Shell (including Stand Alone Complex). First D Shangri-la Frontier
“We are thrilled to bring an unparalleled, deep catalogue of manga into the growing community of GlobalComix comic fans!” said Alvin Lou, president and CEO of Kodansha USA.
“Our mission at GlobalComix is to make all kinds of comics and all kinds of comics accessible to fans everywhere,” says Eric Tapper, Vice President of Business Development and co-founder of GlobalComix. “This partnership is not just a content milestone. It’s a huge leap in building a truly global comics platform. It’s just the beginning of what we planned for manga at GlobalComix.”
As a fan, I couldn’t agree with Eric any more. This is not just another app update, it’s a game changer. GlobalComix is at the pinnacle of the world of digital comics and is on a huge streak of right decisions. The platform is already a one-stop shop for comic lovers, but now it aims to become a paradise for manga fans. I can’t wait seriously for anything else they’re waiting for our cartoon fans.
The only real question is that there is a vast, diverse, and growing library, why is this app already missing on your phone?
Fans can follow Kodansha on GlobalComix.com to receive notifications when titles become available.
