Multiple Eisner and Harvey Award-winning publisher Oni Press celebrates comic illustrator Louis Larosa with the launch of a comic-based Kickstarter: documenting Lewis Larosa’s art, 20 years of work in the comic industry, working on several series including Bloodshot Reborn, Divinger, Harving, Sabengezen the Sasie Mann Zenman, Vanshey Mann Zenman, and Vanshey Mann Zenman. Manawar.

“It’s happening, guys! Thanks to the incredible people at Oni Press, I have a retrospective of my art in the oven for over 20 years,” said artist LaRosa. “What an incredible honour. From my early days at Marvel when I launched Punisher Max to my years helping to reboot the brave universe, this collection features some of my best works in one lovely book. Hopefully, these images will encourage you to pick up and draw a pencil!”

Carbon-based Kickstarter: The Art of Lewis Larosa will be released on August 11th and will provide fans with 11 pledge layers, including a slip-case version of the book (limited to 250), signatures and reorganised versions. Deluxe Portfolio Set: Divinity #1, Ninjak #1, Xo Manowar (2017) #1; Premium, Hard Screen T-shirt. Specialized art prints; committees; and even the opportunity to own carbon-based LaRosa’s original cover art, Luis LaRosa itself.

Carbon Base: The Art of Luis Larosa

Since taking on his professional debut at the dawn of the 21st century, American illustrator Luis Larosa defined him as one of the single masters of modern comics mediums. It combines dynamic reference-based realism, stylized superhero storytelling, and “control of shadow and light masters” to create a completely unique jaw drop style called “carbon-based.”

This first-ever career retrospective will feature over 250 pages of LaRosa’s raw, unequipped line art, alongside Marvel comics, brave entertainment, epic games, boom, and more, along with rarely seen covers, character designs, and concepts.

Carbon Base: Luis LaRosa’s Art is an oversized hardcover measuring 10 x 12 inches and features page-by-page commentary by LaRosa and former brave editor-in-chief Warren Simons. So does the appreciation from colleagues and collaborators, including Lee Bamejo, Dave Johnson, Matt Kint, Jeff Lemia and Yannick Puckett.

“When it comes to Louis Larosa, “huge talent” seems like a Titanic’s understatement,” said Hunter Golinson, president and publisher of Oni Press. “For over a decade, I have had the great joy of working with Lewis at many publishers. So far, it’s an honor to collect the work of his life so far! – for the first time between two covers at Oni Press. The grandeur of his unique and informal style.

There are also plenty of ONI Press add-ons, so check out the carbon-based Kickstarter page: The Art of Lewis Larosa. Check out Kickstarter here. Fans can back up the project until September 3rd to check out some of the exclusive offers below.
