Bram Stoker’s iconic Dracula has acquired a stunning new perspective in Dracula: Book III – The Count, a 120-page hardcover graphic novel by comic veterans Matt Wagner (Grendel, Mage) and Kelley Jones (Batman: Red Rain). In this latest chapter, readers have plunged into a horrifying reinterpretation of the original story. It unfolds completely from Dracula’s own perspective. This book follows Book I, which was released in 2023 via Kickstarter. Check out our interview with the creators about the opening salvo here.

Author Wagner explains the creative leap:

“Anyone familiar with Stalker’s original novels knows that once the action moves to England, the title character is basically invisible in the rest of the story… The evil, charismatic and plot-making vampire Lord is relaxed on the streets of London.
– Matt Wagner

That means Dracula discovers his true motivations as he sneaks into the heart of the modern British Empire.

Artist Kelly Jones admits that capturing this invisible chapter was not easy, but it was also fascinating.

“From the initial discussion of this project, this was the part I found most difficult to take off… Every time I read one of his scripts I find myself completely involved in how the story unfolds… I almost forget that I am the person who portrays this incredible story!”
– Kelly Jones

Released as an elegant European-sized hardcover, Dracula: Book III – Count reunites the creative trio of Wagner, Jones and colorist Jose Vilalvia, with Rob Lee lettering. The project will be launched soon via Kickstarter and you can follow the pre-release page now and be notified live.

Get ready to step into the shadows of the world of stalkers. Through the eyes of the undead mastermind himself.
