Marvel Comics has announced that the ongoing Doctor Strange series is back. Author Derek Randy (Dr. Strange of Asgard), artist Ivan Fiorelli (Fantastic Four) and colorist Dono Sanchez Almara will be at the helm this December. The first arc picked up from Randy’s previous miniseries and the immortal Thor will see Stephen work with Thor’s sister Angela to protect the realm left unprotected by the Thunder’s absent god.
Doctor Strange #1 (2025), Main Cover by Alex Holly
After becoming Asgard’s magician, Strange loses his chance to red and his revenge against Doom. With no way to go home and few remaining allies in Asgard, the strange thing travels to Alfheim to investigate a new crisis. But in unfamiliar lands, can the strange thing prevent elves and angels from fighting over the mystical cousins? Maybe with the help from Heven’s own Angela!
Randy said: “I’m excited to work with Ivan and Dono as I continue my Strange adventure away from the midguard. I also get to delve a little deeper into Heaven’s (Angela is called) angel society. It’s bigger, crazy, more bent – and we’re inviting you all to the ride.”
Fiorelli said, “It was a purely artistic pleasure to jump into the world of Doctor Strange. It’s very different from what I’ve worked on before and can make me wild with the strange and magical elements that make his story so unique.
The new Doctor Strange #1 will be released on December 3rd, with a prelude story by Landy and Fiorelli coming up in Doctor Strange #450 (scheduled on September 3rd). This marks the fifth ongoing renewal of the magician Supreme since returning in 2015 (after his absence in 19). It remains unknown as of the time of writing the connections that the series tinkered with the story that San Diego Comic-Con was made to.
In the meantime, check out the variant covers of the first issue of Luciano Vecchio and Fanyang, concept art for the new costumes of Strange by Designer Geoff Shaw, and more character designs by Fiorelli below.
