Of all the incredible lore of the two films of Blade Runner, the fate of Las Vegas may be the most convincing. Enter Blade Runner Black Lotus: Las Vegas #1 on September 17th. In this all-new series, Elle, a deadly replicant combat model, is also known as The Black Lotus Killer. Her journey takes her to the irradiated ruins of Las Vegas. It is a sandy ghost town now haunted by the aftermath of a dirty bomb, and later appears in Blade Runner 2049.
Blade Runner Black Lotus: Las Vegas #1 is a very noir story. Opens at the Labyrinthian entrance at Wallace Corp HQ, it often sums up who the main player is as the characters walk and speak. They are after Black Lotus and bring the team together. Motley Crew says that if you’ve seen one, longtime readers of the series are pleased that Officer Davis is back, but the team certainly won’t like her.
As the mission begins gear, the story takes on the vibe of Max, who is totally crazy with train robbers. Writer Nancy A. Collins captions keep us up to date with Black Lotus and her journey.

Artist Jesus Helvas is gritty in his style, with cool bikes and scenery. The last three pages are particularly amazing. It reveals that the team is hunting Black Lotus as another important highlight. The various personalities are fully displayed and I feel they are dangerous.
When lowering this first problem, the general tone of this world is to be noted. It’s dark, merciless, and the manipulators are everywhere. Las Vegas is not inhabited by humans, but you get the feeling that it is one of the only places where you can be in peace. The tone of the noir becomes powerful and you can see this translated easily into films and television.
Another note is that if you’re new to these characters, you may lose a slight hook. The story leaned against characters like Davis and their struggle, but if you’ve never seen it in an animated shows or comics, you might feel a bit left behind.
Blade Runner Black Lotus: Las Vegas #1 is a charming and atmospheric debut that adds depth to the franchise myth with its rough environment, stylish art and tense stories. Longtime fans will make the most of their return characters and plot threads, but the powerful visuals and noir storytelling make them a valuable entry point for curious newcomers.
